Dr. Christine Quemuel

University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, Interim Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity

Dr. Christine Quemuel is yonsei and second generation Pinay. Since 2015, she has served as the Interim Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, and Director of Student Equity, Excellence, and Diversity (SEED) at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). Christine is responsible for over twenty departments that provide support services for traditionally underrepresented and underserved ethnic groups, as well as for students with disabilities, women, LGBTQ+, veterans, student parents, low-income and welfare participating students, and a wide variety of students along the spectrum of academic preparedness and achievement. She brings over 25 years of experience in higher education and student affairs.

 

Christine is a first gen and military connected college student who received her B.A. from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University (titled the Legacy of People of Color in the U.S.), her M.A. in American Studies and her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
