Pathways and Possibilities: From Scholarships to College-to-Career Success

At APIA Scholars, scholarships are only the beginning. We are equally focused on student success from college to career, ensuring Scholars thrive beyond the classroom with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

On September 30, 2025, that commitment came to life through Pathways and Possibilities: What’s Your Career Story?, a virtual workshop that guided Scholars in reflecting on their lived experiences and translating them into purposeful career pathways. The workshop was led by by APIA/AANAPISI Scholarship Alumna Melissa Atienza, Director at Degrees of Change, whose own nonlinear career journey grounded the session in authenticity and possibility. She invited Scholars to see their backgrounds, values, and challenges not as obstacles—but as assets that can shape meaningful careers.

Helping Scholars Own Their Career Stories

Through interactive reflection and guided exercises, Scholars explored formative experiences, clarified their values, interests, and skills, and began building personalized career roadmaps. Rather than focusing on a single “right” path, the session emphasized adaptability, self-awareness, and intentional decision-making as they are key skills for navigating an evolving workforce.

Students also learned how to articulate their career stories more confidently in resumés, interviews, and networking conversations, strengthening their ability to stand out beyond academic credentials.

Measurable Impact, Meaningful Outcomes

Post-workshop feedback underscored the session’s impact:

• 87% of attendees said the content was relevant to their career goals
• 93% of attendees reported the workshop provided practical tools or insights that you can apply to your career journey

One participant shared “I’ve been needing a guide to figure out how my prospective career will intrinsically motivate me and fulfill me!”
