APIA Scholars is hosting a virtual Financial Literacy and Wellness Workshop Series for the Fall 2024 semester, offering culturally relevant resources for scholars and alumni. These workshops will offer culturally relevant resources, information, and community spaces for scholars and alumni to navigate their financial aid, learn how to budget and save, build wealth, and more.

Come Chat With Us: The Real Cost of College, Securing Financial Aid, & Self-Advocacy in College (Completed)

Facilitator: Megan Lehr, Consulting Coordinator at uAspire  

Do you have questions about your financial aid or the FAFSA? Are you trying to figure out which office to turn to for help with college finances? uAspire will help start your semester off right with an interactive workshop on ensuring your financial aid is all set by checking your next steps and advocating for yourself to Financial Aid offices. Additionally, they’ll provide tips about costs that can come up unexpectedly during your first year, and where you can go for support. 

After attending this workshop, attendees will:  

  • Feel empowered and informed to navigate and talk to their financial aid o
  • Understand the real costs of attending college. 
  • Learn how to access and look for on and off campus resources to support their college journey.

Ever wonder where all your money goes or how to keep track of it? Curious about how to budget for unexpected expenses like replacing a broken laptop or paying for car repairs? Join the Student Success team from APIA Scholars for an engaging and practical workshop on managing your finances as a college student. We’ll break down the essentials of creating a budget, tracking your expenses, and saving for emergencies. You’ll walk away with valuable tools and strategies to take control of your money, including a personalized budget template and resources you can start using right away.

After attending this workshop, attendees will:  

  • Identify sources of income and typical expenses as a college student  
  • Be able to create a basic budget tailored to their personal circumstances. 
  • Understand the important of saving for emergencies and long-term goals

Description: Navigating finances and money can come with anxiety and stress. Balancing all the different factors when it comes to understanding your finances while also being in school can seem like a never-ending process. The goal of this workshop is to help you understand what financial stress looks like and how it might manifest. The Asian Mental Health project will walk you through tools and techniques to manage the stress and anxiety you might face through the academic year and how to best take care of yourself. Join our friends from the Asian Mental Health Project as they discuss how to build healthier habits and techniques. 

After attending this workshop, attendees will: 

  • Be able to define financial stress 
  • Utilize tools and techniques to manage financial stress 
  • Learn about socio-emotional tools and techniques to manage stress throughout the academic year
