Title: Manager of Student Success

Reports to: Associate Vice President of Student Success
Status: Exempt, full-time
Location: West Coast of contiguous United States (remote position)

Salary Range: $56,000 to $84,000

 

Position Summary 

The Student Success department will focus on a 3-year Strategic Plan to “reduce financial barriers” for our AANHPI scholars. The Student Success team is responsible for student events and supports which include: program ideation, creation, implementation, and evaluation.

The Manager of Student Success will lead Scholar-focused Events and Supports for the Student Success team. They will be responsible for overseeing event (in-person and virtual) coordination and support and will work closely with the team to innovate high-quality and impactful student engagement. This position will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Student Success, and work in close partnership with them to ensure new engagements and opportunities are aligned with organizational goals and strategy.

This position will be based on the West Coast of the contiguous United States to serve scholars in the nearby regions. This role will be required to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person events in Hawaiʻi, the Pacific Islands, and the West Coast. As a remote role, this position will be required to travel to the D.C. office once per quarter.

 

Key Responsibilities 

Event Planning and Management

  • Plan and coordinate scholar events including venue choice, logistics, budgeting, materials, and post-event follow up.
  • Coordinate internal organization communication regarding events, keep relevant staff informed as needed (e.g. travel coordination, event support).
  • Work with Student Success team to manage a calendar of events, collaborate on event ideation and creation.
  • Coordinate all stakeholders and vendors to execute successful events

Student Events and Supports

  • Work directly with donors/funders to explore future scholar engagement opportunities
  • Provide additional leadership and staffing support for all in-person and virtual scholar events
  • Manage flow of content for virtual and in-person events with Student Success team.
  • Use data-informed practices to ensure throughline among all events and supports.

Cross-Department Engagement

  • Meet with other departments to understand their needs for scholar participation and engagement
  • Meet with funders and donors, as needed, in collaboration with Development
  • Help coordinate internal project delegation for the Student Success team; assign team members to different projects when appropriate
  • Work closely with the Scholarships team to engage scholars who need additional support; help address financial barriers that are present during their academic program.

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a business office or nonprofit work
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience working with college students, particularly those of multicultural, first-generation, and/or low-income backgrounds
  • Experience with planning, coordinating, and managing events (preferably in a higher education or nonprofit environment)
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures and experiences, and the issues affecting these communities
  • Flexibility and the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlines
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and the ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to tailor messaging
  • Commitment to social justice causes, especially with an emphasis on working towards educational equity and providing resources for vulnerable student populations
  • Command of Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms, Survey Monkey, Constant Contact or other mass email communication platforms, and Salesforce or other CRM platform.

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
