February 2, 2021: Noel Harmon inspires the APIA Scholars community with a reflection of how our ancestry preserved and the lessons we can apply today as we celebrate Black History Month. Read the story.

January 8, 2021: Noel Harmon makes a statement on behalf of APIA Scholars addressing the violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol Building on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Read the statement.

October 17, 2020:  Noel Harmon and an APIA Scholar present at the McDonald’s College Access Workshop. This virtual community event will be focused on the Chinese community and will feature financial aid and college access information.

October 16, 2020: Orchid Giving Circle 2020 Grantee Celebration, a virtual event that recognizes the 2020 grantees – including APIA Scholars, features a pre-recorded message from Katrina Breese, giving thanks for support, as well as testimonials from two of our 2020 APIA/Orchid Giving Circle Scholars.

October 10, 2020: Katrina Breese and an APIA Scholar present at the McDonald’s College Access Workshop. This virtual community event will be focused on the Chinese community and will feature financial aid and college access information.

October  7,2020: Noel Harmon presents at ACT’s Center for Equity in Learning staff retreat to help their staff better understand the education realities and challenges facing the Asian American and Pacific Islander diaspora.

September 4, 2020: Wells Fargo Student Impact Scholarship. Long time corporate sponsor, Wells Fargo, announces a new scholarship to help student affected by Covid-19. If you’re a student working to make an impact in your community but have been financially impacted by the pandemic, apply for an opportunity to receive a $5K Wells Fargo Student Impact Scholarship.

Recipients will also have the opportunity to be paired with a Wells Fargo mentor. Scholarship applications open September 14 through October 2, 2020.

2. Begin your application by answering questions about you, your financial picture, and your community efforts.
3. Create a short video or essay describing how your efforts are impacting your community and share your story of community impact on social using #ImpactMakers

2021-2022 APIA ScholarshipApplication will open September 9, 2020 and close January 14, 2021.

2020-2021 AANAPISI ScholarshipApplication will open September 9, 2020 and close November 11, 2020.

Wells Fargo Student Impact ScholarshipApplication will open on September 14, 2020 and close October 2, 2020.

 

June 15, 2020: APIA Scholars has officially relocated our main office to 1850 M St. NW Suite 245. We will not be re-opening our office at 2025 M St NW. In-office operations at APIA Scholars will continue to follow DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s directive for reopening the District of Columbia.

In addition to our direct efforts such as our Emergency Fund, Chat & Chew Virtual Discussions, SMART Professional Mentoring Program, and Wellness Checks,we have developed a digital resource guide with links to incredible materials from partners and government agencies. Utilizing technology, APIA Scholars is now adapting and expanding the various programs and services we are providing. MARCH 16, 2020: With the continued spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), APIA Scholars is proceeding with plans that put the health and safety of our staff, supporters, partners, and Scholars first. Utilizing technology, APIA Scholars has implemented policies and procedures for remote work that will allow our staff to continue advancing our mission and vision throughout this nationwide emergency. As we continue to monitor the situation, APIA Scholars will follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as local jurisdictions to guide our response. Our organization is committed to working with you to address any concerns you may have as we navigate this emergency together.
