Kong Her
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Program Director, Asian Pacific American Resource Center
For more than a decade, Kong has served students in non-profit organizations, K-12 school districts, community colleges and research institutions. He is committed to supporting underserved students to achieve their goals and become leaders in their communities. As a Hmong-American, first-generation college graduate, Kong credits his achievements thus far to those that have reached out to him with support. His personal experience has inspired his passion to cultivate community and support for underserved student communities to thrive. He hopes his work will guide students in their own development to become grounded leaders, active community members, and engaged citizens.
Today, Kong serves as Program Director for the Asian Pacific American Resource Center at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the resource center, in addition to providing leadership for AANAPISI initiatives at the university. Kong received his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and earned a Master of Science in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas. In his free time, Kong enjoys camping, DIY projects around the house, and playing chauffeur for his wife and their two young children. He is a proud Minnesota sports fan and hopes to see the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves win a championship in his lifetime.
